For many Hanoverans the Marienburg Castle is one of the top sights in the region. The castle complex was built between 1856 and 1867 and was a gift from king Georg V. to his wife queen Marie. Today, 150 years later, it is privately owned by his great-great-great grandchild the Hereditary Prince Ernst August of Hanover, who made the Marienburg Castle to a cultural highlight.
